Make expectations clear before someone represents the work.
Christian music organizations make public decisions about whom they invite to lead, perform, work, and represent them. A written standard gives applicants and organizers a common understanding before those decisions are made.
This framework pairs personal affirmation with meaningful local church accountability. It is a starting point for an organization to adopt and administer with care, consistency, and discretion.
What participants affirm
Adapt the organization name and scope of representation, while keeping the convictions plain enough for an applicant and their church to understand.
The Apostles’ Creed
I affirm the historic Christian faith as summarized in the Apostles’ Creed.
God’s Word
I affirm that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God and the final authority for faith and life.
Male and female
I affirm that God created humanity male and female; marriage is the lifelong covenant union of one man and one woman; sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage.
Consistent witness
While representing the organization, I will not publicly advocate beliefs or practices that contradict these convictions.
Membership, care, and verification
I am a member in good standing of a Bible-believing local church, living under the spiritual care of its pastors or elders. I give the organization permission to contact a pastor or elder, if necessary, to verify my membership and good standing.
Affirmation should lead to actual review.
A signed form alone cannot establish whether a church teaches these convictions or whether an applicant is known and accountable there.
Define covered roles
Decide which artists, performers, staff, leaders, vendors, and other representatives must complete the process. Apply the same rule consistently within each role.
Collect the affirmation
Ask for a signed affirmation and the applicant’s church name, location, and pastor or elder contact information.
Review the church
Read its published statement of faith, ask about unclear points, and determine whether its teaching aligns with the organization’s standard.
Confirm accountability
With the applicant’s permission, contact the named pastor or elder to confirm membership, good standing, and an actual pastoral relationship. Record the decision and review it when circumstances change.
Tell applicants who will review their answers, contact church leaders only with permission, restrict access to responses, and establish how long records are kept. A church reference is one part of discernment, not a substitute for a fair conversation with the applicant.
